  One for the Road
We will be leaving for one week on Thursday (at midnight)! Can not wait!! Got my 30+ sunscreen and my bathing suits all ready to go. I am determined not to burn and have to spend the duration under an unbrella and fully clothed. There will be definate sunburn patrol going on at all times while we are outdoors.

Anyway, to satisfy your FO cravings I completed this little number and leave it here for you to veiw throughout the week (I know you won't keep popping in to see it, but I can have my little fantasies).
I give you the Fiesta Wristlet:

To further to experience, here is the interior (complete with lining and a little trinket-red jasper-see if you can find it: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This little number is versitile. You can unclip the strap and slip it in your purse for a little pouch or you can clip on the strap and wear it as a wrist purse (or wristlet as I like to call them). I love it. The lining has little lady bugs on them and the zipper is concealed by the frilly edging.

Hope you all have a happy and safe week. I will be back on the 5th or 6th of June with a relaxed soul and some vacation junky kids who will have 2 months of complete bordom ahead of them. Wish me luck!
Peace all~ DAWN

Back of shrug. Nice bag, huh. Oh, look at the airplane in the grass. It's as if I'm going on vacation now! "Hold that plane!!" Posted by Hello

Shrug front. Cool beach bag. I'm really into green this year for some reason. Posted by Hello

  Everybody Shrug!
Well, here it is--the shrug of the moment.
It was made with Schachenmayr "Princess" (bought it from Elann.com). I used an H hook and about 3 1/2 skeins. It has 3/4" sleeves and fits me perfectly. I wore it all day while shopping (for beach stuff--that is my new bag in the photo if you squint real hard). Love it Love it Love it!! I can't say it enough. It turned out just like I pictured it in my head. Now, truely how often does that happen--yeah, exactly.

For all those knit shrugs out there--I'd put mine up against them any day. It could just be the shrug talking (but I doubt it **grin**).

OMG, I'm Having a "Mom Moment"
Okay, to begin with: my middle son got an award last nite for the Highest GPA in Algebra 1 for grades 10-12. Yeh! for my mathmatically enhanced son!! He took it in stride, but I am legitamately proud. Then this morning (I'm a little slow on the up take) it hit me that school will be over next week for this year and after summer vacation my oldest WILL BE A SENIOR! I dropped off my youngest at school and drove home with tears in my eyes thinking of this. No, I'm not PMSing (that was last week). This is bona fide reality sinking into my thick scull. My first born baby is gonna be finishing with school and entering adulthood by this same time next year. I will be a blubbering idiot within six months. Wait and see.

On the crochet front: I am so close to being done with the shrug I can hardly stand it. My last sleeve is 3/4 of the way done!! oh is the dream of taking it on vacation NEXT WEEKEND going to become a reality? That would mean 2 crocheted pieces that get to go to Florida with me.

Speaking of Florida: I am so excited about this trip. make that !!!! Next Friday we will be off to the sunshine state and washing sand out of our cracks for days on end. Can't wait.

Have a great day, ya'll. Peace~ DAWN

One day the background will look sandy and wet, not lush and green:) Beach Volley ball anyone? Posted by Hello

I told my son, "when you take the picture don't get my white legs in the shot. I don't want to scare anyone." Click. "Did you just take a picture of my legs?" "Yeh," he says. THANKS Posted by Hello

  (**sniffle)Thanks, ya'll
Thanks for all the love yesterday (*grin*), I really appreciated all those fine comments.

Okay, without further ado.. the particulars of the above photo. I used the pattern from Crochet Fantasy June 2004 issue and it is called the Salmon Tunic. Do me a favor, gals, when you design your own things take a cue from the knitters out there and come up with some really awesome names for your stuff. Not something that sounds frumpy or "fishy". Anyhow, I modified it slightly by making the sleeves 3/4 length instead of long sleeved and I used ww yarn instead of bulky (so there was some gauge issues--but nothing to terrible). The pattern was super easy and done in one continuous piece. When finished simply stitch up the sides and you are done!! I used recycled yarn from an ugly sweater I purchased at the Good Will (love them). There you have it; a nice top to wear over my swim suit so I can get some ice cream or walk down the boardwalk or just hide my pink shoulders from the sun for awhile.

The leg shot was my sons idea of funny so I had to include it (no one should take themselves so serious that vanity gets in the way of a good laugh).

I must head out to work. 3 1/2 hours of massage on the first day of my period. Yippie!! TMI, I know, but we're all friends here so I feel like I can share, hehe.

  Flower Swap Complete
Wow, I really thought that those photos would have generated much more conversation than they did. Maybe my husband strapping on a red bra to another man in public really isn't all that uncommon after all. Hmm, go figure.

Anyway, I got a great package from Ulla in Sweden. She was my other flower swap partner from Crochetville. She sent me some awesome flowers and doilies that she made and a pretty flower bead which will become the center of a hemp anklet I will make. Her work is really beautiful. Both she and Jess made this a great swap and they are fantastic partners. If you happen to get them as a partner later, you are very lucky.

I'm taking a swap break for the early part of summer so I can enjoy some me time and some crochet for me time. I passed on the kitchen/bath swap but will probably be on board for the the next one.

I did finish my beach coverup top (although, my husband thinks I can just wear it as a shirt). It is pretty nice. Pictures tomorrow. I'm the only one here at the moment and so I can't very well take a photo of myself in it. I like to see garments ON the indivdual not just hanging or drapped over something. You can't really get the feel for the completed look unless it is on the intended victum. Ya know.

I swear to you I am almost done with the shrug (you thought I forgot about it didn't you). I completed the first sleeve yesterday, tried it on and am overjoyed that it not only looks great, but fits!! Now, on to the second sleeve. I can't wait to finish this piece and wear it. I have a ton of chores to do today (since beginning my job, you guessed it, the house work has seemed to triple; what the hell kind of math is that anyway?). So, any crochet will have to be done on the sly and while my conscience is asleep so that I don't feel guilty about all the dirty laundry piled up in the garage.

Okay, have a great day and please feel free to comment. It does no good to keep things inside. . .we were meant to express ourselves. That is my sick plea for attention (did it work?).

Peace~ DAWN

  V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N.......In the Summer Sun
Only Two, count 'em, 2 more weeks till we are on vacation in FLORIDA! I can't wait to sit around on the beach for hours on end. That is heaven to me.

I started a pull over top to go over my bathing suit. Yeah, I know it is a little short notice, but hey I'm nothing if not a procrastinator. It is from one of the Crochet Fantasy mags and it is worked with a P hook and is going pretty quickly. I think I have a chance at this one. I also started a wrist bag from a pattern at crochetville with the cool "fiesta" yarn by Simply Soft. It is coming along quickly, too. No--I havn't given up on the shrug. I have the first sleeve almost done I just wanted to do something that would be quick and I could see some results. I needed a fix.

For mothers day my kids and husband got me an i-Pod. Not the mini or the Shuffle (which is actually what I asked for) but the "mother ship" of the i-Pod family. Which is totally cool and all, I just don't know how I'm gonna store like 5,000 songs and or e-books! pressure, pressure, pressure. I have 38 so far - - -

  Ahhh Feng Shui
Ah, the call of feng shui. . .it has been screaming at me to tell the truth for some time now. I have actually been losing sleep because of all the disordered yarn piled up around the house. It is insane! So I went to Walmart this morning and bought a couple more big plastic (clear) bins to store all the scattered yarn in the house. I have 3 bins full and space on my floor in the livingroom and diningroom. Please don't be fooled into thinking I only have these 3 bins of yarn (that would not be a wise assumption), this is how many it took to clear up the clutter of yarn that has been ordered and sent to me from crochetville and those 'wild hair' purchases when I go out. Now comes the task of finding where to put these 3 large bins. Damn! I swear I need an entire room just for yarn and crafts. Who can I convince to give up their room? Hmmm, I'll get back to you on that one.

We had a nice cinco de mayo at a local mexican restaurant here in town. They have some really great food. It was totally crowded. I drank Coronas because my husband is not into tequilla and when I drink margaritas I like to have a pitcher and not just a single glass. I thought me drinking a pitcher of margaritas by myself would have looked really sad.

I hope all of you who are mothers out there have a great Mothers Day and get treated really special (cause you deserve it). If your moms are still with you, please call them and tell them how much you love them. I will be saying it in my heart for my own mom who I miss with all of my heart. She was the best mom and friend a girl could have and I hope that I can be as great to my kids as she was to all of us.

Peace~ DAWN

  05-05-05
Happy Cinco de Mayo!! everyone. Find your favorite cantina and enjoy a pitcher of margaritas or Coronas and some great mexican food and fiesta the day away!!

No crochet news. I am taking a tiny break. My hands are sore from so many massage appointments that I just want to put them on two silk pillows and have someone spray them with cold rose water every now and then. Is that to much to ask for?

Don't worry, the hiatus will eventually drive me nuts and I'll be back at it with a vengence.

Adios amigos!!

The front of the cocoon sweater with one sleeve half done and the hole for the other. Posted by Hello

The back of the cocoon sweater. Posted by Hello

  Give me a shoulder, please
Well, the back of the shrug is done and I have begun the shoulder and sleeve of arm #1. It is moving right along.

I am trying to hold off on any other project at this time because I really want to complete this shrug and I have a tendency to get almost done with something and then start something else and, well you know how it goes from there. It doesn't stop me from dreaming or looking through magazines and blogs and congering up things in my head. I have about a gazillion outfits done in my head. Man are they awesome.

Anyway, the cocoon sweater that I have about 3/4 of the way completed- - -I'm gonna frog. No, no. Don't try to stop me. It won't do any good. I may photograph it first so you all can see how insane I truely am but I just can't finish it. Why? well, frankly it is frumpy and old-lady looking and I am anything but that. I refuse to wear something, even if I make it, that makes me feel like crap. I will take the Caron Simply Soft and wind it into nice balls (on my winder) and then I will make it into a sweater this fall. I have the pattern already from an old Crochet Fantasy. I just can't wear a cocoon.

Wow! it is gorgeous here today. I hope where you are it is just as beautiful.
Peace all~

  Remain Calm. . .
Denise is back! Check out her webpage. If you like doilies, she is the gal for you. CROCHET PARADISE.

My shrug is coming along nicely. The back portion is almost comlete and I must say that I love the stitch and the yarn immensely. Also, on the plus side I am almost certain that I have enough of this elusive yarn for this project. The back is almost done and I just started on my second of four skeins. Yippie!!

Got to go to work this morning so I hope you all have a wonderful day. If you get panicked about anything, please talk to someone or even blog about it but whatever you do, don't run off to Arizona or Kalamazoo and claim to have been abducted. It's never a good plan. Remember the little boy who cried wolf? It's hard enough teaching our children to take responsibility for their actions without having grownups parade around on tv with kiddie blankets over their heads saying they "panicked".
I just had to go there.
Peace all~

  Finally Some Sun!
Yes! We finally have some sunshine here in Tennessee. I was beginning to wonder if spring was just a tease, but I think it may be coming back. The house wrens that nest in our garage every year have a new brood of babies! They hatched and each time you walk out through the garage you can hear them calling out for food. It is so sweet.

Well, I had to frog the "pink" top again. I had to, I tell ya. I couldn't stand the idea of making something with all of my blood sweat and tears and in the end not being able to wear it! So for now, it sits as a ball of pink soft cotton sport yarn that is destined to become a shrug for my sons girlfriend. Don't judge me. I haven't given up on the tank top. Just one made from this particular yarn. It really is too pink for me and she likes pink and I think shrugs are awesome! so, she gets it.

I have begun a shrug for myself, first. Scroll down to the photo of the dark blue "princess" yarn. I'll wait.
Okay, I'm using that. It is the most awesome yarn. It is really a ribbon yarn but the most narrow I have seen! It feel like a cross between a sport and ww yarn. When you get the fabric going, it has a little give to it. Lovely. Wouldn't you know it, Elanns is sold out of it already! It also has a nice shine to it. Hope they get more of it in!

Have a great day!
Peace all~
